One of things I will say about Empire Kitchen is that Wendy is great. This place is a staple in Crown Heights. Your food is always hot and ready to go. As far as the look of the place it's like any other Chinese restaurant in New York. Wendy is the reason why people eat here.
It's a small store that sells chinese food. Wendy makes the best shrimp with broccoli. She often remembers her regulars and greets them if she's not too busy. I love this place
The woman who works up front is so sweet, helpful and kind. It's a great neighborhood joint. They are quick, pleasant, the food is so good. I go there often. The chicken fried rice always has so much chicken in it, which is a qualm I frequently have with Chinese restaurants. Definitely worth a try. I won't go anywhere else for Chinese in this area.

There's not much open around us. Out here in the nether of Crown Heights, two avenues away from the take-outs of Utica, we're pretty much limited to bodegas and Empire, which has become something of a second kitchen to us as it is for the rest of the block. Empire is a meeting place, a town hall. You grow to feel indebted to the family that runs Empire for the service they provide to the neighbors. They are upstanding citizens and they run an upstanding establishment. Their trade is Chinese, but they will make you anything you ask for from a hamburger to chicken teriyaki to the elusive french fried because the secret is that everything at Empire tastes the same. It all tastes like Empire, which is shockingly similar to the taste of home.
